This Is A Test

...this is only a test.

We're going to switch it up and post something not from the early 90s. Although Meat Beat Manifesto has been around since the Cold War, I'm happy to report that their switches are still very much set to rhythm-destroying.

I became obsessed with Storm The Studio and 99% in high school but (sadly) lost track of them after Satyricon. In the last three years I've had my systems hacked and taken over by dubstep, so I was delighted to see MBM drop their own idea of the subgenre, something Jack Dangers insists they've been doing all along. (Perhaps.)

Anyway, here's a taste from their 2008 Autoimmune and the accompanying Guns N Lovers 12".

FUCK revolutionmuslim.com

In THIS country we have freedom of expression without fear of being silenced. I post this image in support of Trey Parker & Matt Stone in their continued defiance of religious fanaticism and censorship.

Untitled, Not Unmixed

Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II is worth a second listen if you only caught shards of it the first time around. It's subtle, sneaky, and almost too clever for its own good, but it's also one of the least patronizing ambient listening experiences you're ever likely to have.

Aphex Twin - Untitled (Four Tet Remix).mp3

I stumbled upon Four Tet's remix of Untitled (SAW 2 CD1 Track 1) on Soma FM's unbelievably cool cliqhop station this weekend, but I didn't recognize it until halfway through the song. It's one of the coolest Aphex Twin remixes I think I've ever found, and I can't stop listening to it.

Atjazz In The House

I first heard Atjazz in 1998. I spent the next six months tracking down every project I could find with his name attached to it. Some were good, some were forgettable, but then he dropped this remix for Carte Blanche Vol 1 in 2000, and all bets were off.

Little Big Bee - Searchin' (Atjazz Remix).mp3

Beautiful melodies, crisp rhythms, and an attention to detail that would make Steely Dan's producer blush. A sonic fruit cocktail.

Enjoy.
