Speaking Of Coil...

I bathe in the moon's dark blood of vengeance, per se.

(...anyone recognize the sample at the beginning?)

Happy October, whores!

Exclusive Coil Remix

Hang on to your britches, you whores of Babylon. This year's Halloween mixtape will include an exclusive, never before heard remix of Coil's classic Cathedral In Flames.

Keep an eye on this URL. The zip file of the entire Halloween collection will be posted in early October, as soon as my upload ratio is refreshed.

I know, right? Exclusive Coil remix. Brand new. Free for you. (Stop touching yourself.)

Elizabeth Fraser

No voice invokes an air of autumn quite like Elizabeth Fraser's. Since this is my favorite time of the year, I'm going to highlight artists that embody the spirit of the season.

Cocteau Twins dedicated an entire album to the beauty of the female name early in their career (Treasure). The female name is featured here tonight in three haunting selections of Ms. Fraser's later efforts.

Cocteau Twins - Alice
Yann Tiersen - Mary
Yann Tiersen - Kala
(By the way, I was delighted to see that Alice is used in the trailer for Peter Jackson's upcoming film, The Lovely Bones. )

Exclusive David Sylvian Remix

Here's a never before heard instrumental version of Sylvian's Maria. I was going to use it on this year's Halloween mixtape, but in the end I decided that it didn't quite fit.

The spoken words are by Donald Pleasence from John Carpenter's 1987 Prince Of Darkness.

Enjoy.

Spooky Proof

Just in case there's any doubt this Halloween that I am the bunny rabbit caper.

Prototype Jungle... The Dirty Way

Who dat? For once I'm publishing my own shit.

Back in '93 a friend of mine who worshipped the movie Serial Mom -- OK, it was my dealer -- asked if I could sample his favorite line in the film and turn it into a song. Thus began a wholly inappropriate and thoroughly enjoyable exercise in technological jiggery.

I'm fairly confident that I was stoned off my sneakers during the production of each track.

  1. Lick Mommy's Feet
  2. Sunrise
  3. Sycamore

(Also available as a zip.)

Made with an Ensoniq ASR-10, a VCR, and about six dime bags of foot lickin' good weed.

Purple Eyes

"What happens when the intoxication of success has evaporated?"

They were just getting started, hitting their peak, and wrapping it up all at the same time. But what an impossible, blazing white-hot moment they captured in 1982: the perfect song.

Death to summer.
